“server authentication failure” Error In COD5 WaW BETA
Are you getting this error when trying to join a server: server authentication failure?
I’ve heard many different stories on why this is happening but from my own trial and error it appears the reason it’s happening is because when you go to update the server list, the UI is showing you the list is updated when really it’s not done updating. In COD4, if you update the internet server list it can take up to a minute to finish. In COD5, I suspect it takes about the same amount of time only they don’t tell you it’s still updating. So basically you think the list is done being refreshed but in reality it’s still refreshing as you’re trying to join a server. I have found that updating the server list, then waiting for a minute or two before trying to join a server fixes the problem. See if it works for you.

The Activision support site says that this message is because you have a firewall or router that is blocking the game from connecting to the server and they tell you to open a certain port in your firewalls. I followed their instructions in detail in both the windows firewall and in my router and I still get this error. I have tried waiting several minutes after the list is done refreshing and tried to join and still got the same message. I’m starting to go nuts because I still have not been able to get into a multiplayer server in this game.

Try updating the server, restart the game, and dun update again, just join the server u wanna play

Seems to work for me. Was starting to really piss me off. Have to wait to all the maps update. Plus turn off windows firewall.

I gather it’s because the servers are overloaded due to it’s popularity!
