One Lucky Ol’ Gal
In an unprecedented Lottery winning, an 86-year old woman from Etobicoke, Canada (a close suburb of Toronto), has two winning tickets in the September 30 Lotto 6/49 draw. She doubles her stakes to a whopping $16 million. She reports she saw the winning numbers in a “dream”:
I was lying in bed and I had a dream about numbers so I wrote them down when I woke up. I should pay more attention to my dreams I guess. - Mary Wollens
What is even more remarkable is that she purchased the original ticket, but then went back a day later to get the second one because she felt so sure about the numbers.
Mary Wollens lost her daugter to cancer five years ago and her husband shortly after that, and has had a difficult time sleeping. No easy street to where she is now, Wollens grew up in rural Alberta and Saskatchewan, and worked as a house cleaner at only 14.
Wollens said she’s not much of a lottery ticket buyer. To her it’s just an occasional, harmless pastime, better than going “to the bingo or something like that where you don’t win.”
Besides, she said, it’s an excuse to chat with the variety store owner and his wonderful wife, one of the “most beautiful” people she knows.
It feels good to know sometimes the good guys win.
