The good old days (wow)

I’m not sure wow is a big enough word to describe the feeling I had while reading this cnn.com article. It nearly made my head explode. This was after the now daily gut-wrenching nauseousness that runs through me when I read Bush’s lie-and-smile-about-it self affirmation had begun. I say that because things have gone from bad to ‘what the fuck,’ and at this point, I believe with all of my being that he believes his own bullshit…as if I had any real doubts anyway. The bullshit meter is now pinned.

Yesterday, cnn.com quoted Bush as saying “…and on Friday I stood up and said, ‘I don’t appreciate the speculation about Don Rumsfeld; he’s doing a fine job; I strongly support him.’ ” This stinks of the Michael Brown situation and the now infamous “Brownie’s doing a heck of a job” comment. It more than stinks. To steal a joke from Dennis Miller (from when he was funny), it stinks of a man “eating gorgonzola cheese, while getting a perm in the septic tank of a slaughter house.’”

This brings me to today, Scott McClellan has thrown in the towel. Thank God because just yesterday I said to a friend that I can’t stand watching him in another lie-and-dodge meeting with the press. Today, Bush is quoted on cnn.com saying, “One of these days, he and I are going to be rocking in chairs in Texas and talking about the good old days.”

The only question I have for the few righties who actually still support this guy is this:

When exactly is the time period Bush is talking about? I beg the Bush supporting freakshows to define the exact time period. What day did it begin? What day did it end? OK, even a ballpark estimate will do. Help me understand when those “good old days” were. My guess would be that Scott’s good old days actually began on the White House lawn this morning.
