I probably shouldn’t be doing this, but I just released a new theme called Balance. It was designed by Matthew Good and built by me. It was never intended to be publically released, but we got so many requests for it that we decided to throw it out there. A couple of notes:
- This theme is very very very alpha. If you still want to use it, read on.
- You’ll need Dave Kellam’s FlickrRSS plugin
- You’ll need the Ultimate Tag Warrior plugin
- You’ll need the Wordpress gravatar plugin
- This theme requires that your Wordpress installation be in the root directory, not in a sub-directory (at least for now)
- This theme assumes that you are using date and name based URLs (at least for now)
- If you want to use the archive template that comes with the theme, you’ll need the extended live archives plugin.
If after reading that you still want to try it out, be my guest. You can see a demo of the theme here. Also, I setup a forum page for the Balance theme here.
Instructions
- Download the theme from the themes page
- Unzip the theme and upload it into your wp-themes directory
- edit config.php and set $asides to the category id of your asides category. If you don’t have an asides category, create one.
- Activiate the theme under wp-admin->presentation
Good night and good luck.
