Satisfied Dot Mac Customer

Monday, January 30th, 2006

Last night I bit the bullet and paid for a .mac account with apple. Not 24 hours later and I’m extremely happy with my purchase. I love that fact that I can use my Apple mail client at home and at work and see the exact same contents in my mailbox. But not just my mailbox, my signatures and smart mailboxes to. I was a little worried about leaving all the great features of gmail behind, but then I found this page, which is full of plugins for Apple’s mail client.

The one in particular that caught my eye and have been using since last night is MailTags. Yes, you read that correctly, MailTags (as in, tag your emails with keywords like you would using Del.icio.us or Flickr! It’s a feature that I’ve been dying for and even requested from Google to add to gmail.

I’m also a big fan of iDisk and have already started storing files between work and home. Not to mention the syncing of all my other data (calendars, bookmarks, contacts, etc…). When I first learned about .mac accounts I bitched about the price, but now I understand what the fuss is all about.

Mblog 06

Sunday, January 29th, 2006

mblog06.jpg Well, after much laboring and internal soul-searching we have launched a new design for Matt’s blog. Matt had designed four or five different themes for which development was initially started, but for one reason or another, the previous efforts were scrapped (well, not all of them, but more on that later). Matt was impressed with the new TM design and wanted to implement a much cleaner version of it for his blog. With that goal in mind, Matt fired up Photoshop and put the brush to the canvas once again.

Needless to say, this one made it! We launched it earlier this evening along with some mods to the archives, music and about pages. Matt did a fantastic job on the design (as always) and I think the end result is a very beautiful and clean design. So head over to the mblog, have a look around and feel free to leave your feedback.

Anyway, as I mentioned earlier, not all the previous efforts were scrapped and we chose one of the previous designs for development as a new theme. If you interested in seeing a preview, look here. I also finally got around to adding life-size screenshots of all our working themes, so they are there for you viewing pleasure as well.

I’ll be in Boston for most of the day tomorrow (Sunday), so I may not get around to answering all my email, but hang in there if you can and I’ll eventually get to it.
